Károly Nehéz was born in 1974 in Nyíregyháza. He continued his studies in mechanical engineering at the University of Miskolc and received his MSc degree in 1997. Since 2000 he has been working as an assistant professor, since 2007 as an adjunct professor and since 2010 as an associate professor at the Department of Applied Informatics of the Institute of Informatics. In 2003 he defended his PhD thesis on "Computer simulation and optimization issues of Milling". He teaches Computer Systems Design and his main research interests are software engineering, information systems and data mining. He has been Head of the Department of Applied Informatics since 2017 and Director of the Institute since 2019.
